Experience the Jazz Trombone and Saxophones at AACC

They don't mean to toot their own horn; but they're good.

The Jennifer Krupa (R) - Leigh Pilzer (L) Quintet

World Class Jazz: Jennifer Krupa-Leigh Pilzer Quintet

April 25, 2014

Anne Arundel Community College will host the Jennifer Krupa-Leigh Pilzer Quintet as the last of this year’s World-Class Jazz Series with a clinic Friday, May 2, and a concert Saturday, May 3.

Krupa plays the trombone, and Pilzer handles baritone and soprano saxophones. Making up the rest of the group are rhythm section members. According to the quintet’s website, Krup and Pilzer were inspired to form a group by the collaborations of other jazz greats. They play both jazz standards and their own original works and have performed with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Sherrie Maricle and The DIVA Jazz Orchestra and Washington, D.C.-area military jazz ensembles.

The public is welcome to attend the free clinic at 3 p.m. May 2 in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 224 and the concert at 8 p.m. May 3 in the Humanities Building Room 112. Tickets for the concert are $15 general admission; $10 AACC employees, senior citizens, groups, outside students and children under 10; $5 for those with valid AACC student ID.

Sponsored by the AACC Performing Arts Department/Music, the event is coordinated by Ian A. Wardenski, assistant professor of music. For information or tickets, contact the box office, 410-777-2457 or email the Box Office or visit the performing arts events page.
