ARNOLD CAMPUS (continued)

Humanities Building Lecture Hall

HUMANITIES BUILDING

40,783 gross square feet
Built in 1967, this building is part of the original campus and is almost a mirror image of the Dragun Science Building. Partial renovations in 1993 and in FY 2007 included work to make restrooms ADA compliant. The structure houses English and Communications, Women’s Studies, World Languages and kitchens for the Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism program.

ISAAC COX HOUSE

2,910 gross square feet
This former farmhouse, part of the original college land purchase in 1963, is named for the farmer who lived there and operated a truck farm where the campus is today. The two-story wood frame 2830 building has a full basement. Updates have included an ADA compliant ramp and restroom. The building houses the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation Inc. and the AACC Institutional Advancement office.

DAVID S. JENKINS GYMNASIUM

38,768 gross square feet
Built in 1967, this two-story structure was renovated in 1999 and connected to the pool building. It bears the name of David S. Jenkins, Anne Arundel County Superintendent of Schools in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was the first to see a need for an alternative to four-year residential colleges for county high school graduates and helped convince the county to establish and fund the college.

The gymnasium houses the Health and Physical Education department and provides space for intercollegiate and intramural sports and pick-up games during open hours. The building also contains a fitness room and weight training room and athletic trainer facility.
