AACC Foundation Gala – the Future’s Looking Bright!

From sold-out attendance to funds raised, if this year’s Anne Arundel Community College Foundation gala is any indication, the future is indeed looking bright for the students at AACC. With more than 350 guests on hand and the support of numerous sponsors - including signature sponsors’ Maryland Live! Casino, Severn Savings Bank and Hyatt and Weber - the gala brought in more than $211,000 to support student scholarships and special college programs.

Titled “Welcome to our Future,” the black-tie event held October 13 at The Westin BWI was also an opportunity for the college’s community and supporters to meet Dr. Dawn Lindsay, AACC’s new president. As Dr. Lindsay addressed the attendees, she noted how proud she is to be serving as president of a college that enjoys so much community support.

“A community college is much like a community garden,” she said. “It calls upon all of us to tend to it. When it’s properly nourished, it will grow and help sustain the entire community. And that’s why I’m grateful to everyone in the community for your involvement and participation.”

Beginning with a cocktail reception, the elegant event included delicious cuisine, a special program and dancing to the music of DJ Frank Dominguez. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on dozens of generously donated silent auction items ranging from a generator to diamond earrings.

Along with Dr. Lindsay, the AACC Foundation is grateful to the many donors, event committee members and the community for the generous support that will go a long way toward helping the college achieve its important mission in providing the highest quality education possible for its students.
