AACC's Response to the Government Shutdown

Jan. 9, 2019 — updated Jan. 29, 2019

If you are an AACC student who is unable to make your tuition payment due to a lack of funds as a direct result of the most recent government shutdown, please visit AACC’s Financial Aid office in the Student Services Center to request an adjusted due date and or late fee waiver.

If you have applied for financial aid and are experiencing difficulties obtaining necessary documents, alternative options are available to assist you with this process. The Financial Aid office is working closely on a case-by-case basis with our students who have applied for or are currently receiving financial aid.

Please contact financial aid at 410-777-2203 or finaid@aacc.edu for assistance.

Some additional AACC and community resources available to students impacted by the shutdown:

  • The AACC Food Pantry is open to faculty, staff and students.  The college has recently partnered with the Maryland Food Bank. Please visit Student Union Room 225 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Anne Arundel County Government has a website dedicated to providing information and various resources for those impacted.
  • The Anne Arundel County Food Bank is distributing food to county furloughed federal employees and contractors by appointment only. Those eligible should call 410-923-4255 to schedule an appointment.
  • The Community Action Agency of Anne Arundel County is providing a number of services for low-income and families in need.
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or food stamps are available for those qualified through an expedited process.

If you have any additional suggestions of resources to add to this list, please email us at communications@aacc.edu.
