Free Tax Service at AACC

Jan. 31, 2020

Are you confused doing your own taxes and worried you’re missing something? We might be able to help! You could qualify for the free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program through Anne Arundel Community College’s School of Business and Law.

Through VITA, IRS-certified volunteers – faculty, community members, alumni and students – provide free, basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals with $56,000 or less in annual income for 2019.

The program will process both federal and state returns by appointment only from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 8 through April 4, in Careers Center Room 326 at 101 College Parkway, Arnold. The site will be closed March 16 to 22 for spring break.

“The volunteers go through a pretty rigorous process,” said Michael P. Gavin, site coordinator and assistant professor of business administration at the college. This is his second year leading the program after being a program volunteer himself. “It’s rewarding for both the volunteers and our clients.”

To schedule an appointment, view their calendar by searching “VITA” on aacc.edu. For details call 410-777-2051 or email VITA@aacc.edu.
