New Student Orientation Leaders

New Student Orientation Leaders are students or AACC alumni who provide a service during orientation periods. New Student Orientation (NSO) Leaders impact the learning of new students in a number of ways:

  • They serve as peer educators and role models to students transitioning into college.
  • They foster interpersonal communication while helping new students problem solve during orientation sessions.
  • They foster their own intercultural and interpersonal skill development by working with other students and by serving on student panels during orientation.
  • They assist new students in learning about academic and campus resources.

NSO Leaders are diverse, responsible students who exhibit exemplary leadership skills and who have a real commitment to the college and to the success of other students.

New Student Orientation Leaders are AACC students who are committed to providing new students and their parents a welcoming and informative orientation experience. Group leaders assist new students by answering questions about new student orientation, providing directions and assisting new students as they register for orientation. Group leaders serve as small group guides to various presentations across campus. They also assist during parent orientation sessions.

New Student Orientation Leaders exhibit the following characteristics: leadership, dedication to the college and to the team effort, integrity, responsibility, academic promise, cheerfulness, and maturity. Orientation Leaders are trained thoroughly in preparation for their responsibilities.
