Power plant operators are responsible for operation of the equipment, adjustments to flows, temperatures and pressures, as well as standard operating procedures to start and stop production equipment.

What is the job outlook?
Employment of power plant operators is expected to remain stable, but job opportunities are expected to be excellent because of the large number of retiring workers who must be replaced, an increased demand for energy and legislation that paves the way for a number of new plants. Power plant operators in Maryland earn an average annual salary of approximately $66,200.

Offered in partnership with Gatlin Education Service, the training consists of four online courses that can be taken at your own pace or completed in as little as five months. Total Hours: 400

What credentials can I earn?

What are the requirements?
Students must be at least 16 years old, have basic keyboarding and computer skills, be comfortable navigating the Internet, have e-mail capabilities and have high school diploma or passed the GED exam.
