I am AACC: Ahmad Jamali, Student
Student Snapshot
Major: Computer Science
He, like millions of others in the world, is living a life where familiarity is traded for security and personal sacrifices of cultural and geographical comfort are normal occurrences. Yet, even in these life changes, he takes all of his new experiences in stride, making the most of what he has—not only for himself but also for the good of his family and his family to come. “For people who don’t know about college, just go for it because it’s the best way of reaching your goal, having a better life, and keeping away from trouble,” he says. “My parents took the biggest step and now we’re here, we do better, and we appreciate what they did for us.” kr

[More on Ahmad]
First U.S. impression
“When I saw New York and the highways, it was shocking. That kind of stuff you don’t see in Afghanistan. I’ve seen them in Russia, but it’s different than what you see here.”
Inspiration comes from…
“Everything I have is from my family. My characteristics are from my family, my parents, and how they raised me.”
AACC involvement
“The Banner Design Contest and I was late in meeting the soccer tryout deadline but hopefully this year.”
Current employment
“I work at Severna Park Giant as a dairy clerk four days a week.”
Living in the Middle East
“When I was there, people who lived in western countries would tell me how great the countries are, but it’s really hard to believe what other people say until you experience it. If I go back and tell people now that America is great, they would find it hard to believe.”

“I’m taking 15 credits; one class is CSI-117 and the others are general classes. Math is my favorite and CSI-117.”

"Zinedine Zidane. He doesn’t play anymore. He is a French man who used to play in a team, Real Madrid, from Spain."
