The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Guidelines
- The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program only accepts students in the fall of each academic year.
- Admission to the PTA program is separate from regular admission to the college.
- Since clinical space is limited, prospective students must complete college admission requirements by the PTA application deadline. The application deadline for the fall 2010 class will be March 15, 2010. If application deadline falls on a weekend, then applications will be accepted until the close of business on the next business day. Applications for the fall 2010 class will be available in December 2009 online and in Florestano 306B.
- First consideration will be given to candidates who are residents of Anne Arundel County at the time of application.
Admission/Academic Requirements
- Official high school transcript or equivalency must be submitted to the Records office to verify high school graduation, GED or ACT/SAT scores.
- Students must demonstrate eligibility for ENG-111 or the equivalent of ENG-111.
- Students must demonstrate eligibility for MAT-131.
- Students must present evidence of successful completion, with a grade of "C" or better, of a chemistry course demonstrated by one of the following: U.S high school general chemistry (1 credit) or noncredit (CHE-011) or credit chemistry (CHE-111 or CHE-103).
- All foreign education students must have their college and high school transcripts evaluated by AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Office), World Education Services (WES), or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) prior to evaluation by AACC. Please be advised that this process may take several weeks.
- All foreign educated students must successfully pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 550 (213 is the equivalent computer score) OR have completed the ENG-111/112 or ENG 115/116 or ENG-121 course sequence with grades of "C" or better prior to applying to the PTA program.
- Students who are conditionally accepted into the PTA program must submit proof of CPR, a complete health examination record and criminal background check.
