PTA Frequently Asked Questions

This page contains frequently asked questions about the Physical Therapist Assistant program.

What is my first step?
The first step is to attend an orientation seminar. They are free of charge and do not require pre-registration. Call 410-777-7318 for orientation dates and times.

What is a PTA?
Physical therapist assistants work under the direction and supervision of licensed physical therapists to assist patients during rehabilitation. They are trained to conduct therapeutic exercises, perform therapeutic massage, observe and measure patient progress.

How long is the program?
Students can complete the program in two years.

Can I transfer courses from other colleges/universities?
Prerequisites and general education courses with a grade of "C" or better are transferable provided the course is equivalent to AACC's course. The Records office makes this determination. Have an official transcript sent from the institution to AACC's Records office for evaluation. A transcript summary will be sent to you once the evaluation is completed.
