Sailing Skills and Seamanship Learn the principles of sailing propulsion and control including maneuvering, rigging, boat handling and sail trim. Discuss sailing terminology; various types of boats and trailers and their uses; required and optional safety equipment; safe boating operations and engine maintenance; charts and electronic navigational aids; navigational rules for inland and international water; legal responsibilities; general safety and accident prevention; and marine communications and weather concerns. $70 includes $69 fee. Note: Offered in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-1. Meets the Maryland Safety Education Certification requirement for individuals born after 1972. Students 12-15 years of age must be accompanied by a registered adult. Course fee includes text.
