Pharmacologic Agents for Type 2 Diabetes: Evidence-Based Decision Making Discuss the pharmacologic agents currently available to manage type 2 diabetes and the evidence-based guidelines that help guide decision making for disease management. Learn differences between medication mechanisms of action, contraindications, side effects and effectiveness. Explore how to intensify medication/treatment for the patient who is not achieving an A1c in the goal range. Review how to initiate and calculate insulin doses and compare and contrast types of insulin available in terms of pharmacokinetics, side effects administration and safety. Discuss educational goals and strategies that enhance patient adherence. Explore innovative and emerging treatments. CEUs awarded. $75 includes $5 fee. Note: Approved for four hours of American Academy of Physician Assistants Category I CME credit by the Physician Assistant Review Panel. Approved for four contact hours, including four hours of pharmacology, by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Approved by the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice for four contact hours and by the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 0.4 CEUs.
