Anne Arundel Community College offers a 66-credit Surgical Technology program that will result in the award of an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.
The surgical technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).

The Surgical Technology A.A.S. degree program prepares students for employment as entry-level surgical technologists in hospitals, surgical centers, and other health care industries. It trains graduates to prepare an operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions; prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites; transport patients to the operating room and observe vital signs; check charts; and assist the surgical team with their sterile gowns and gloves.
The program prepares graduates for the Surgical Technologists national certification examination.
