2009 TEACH Essay Contest

Anne Arundel Community College’s TEACH Institute is pleased to announce the second annual student essay contest for Anne Arundel County Public School children on how their public school teachers are making a difference in the lives of students. Take a look at the 2009 winners!

Anne Arundel County Public School students in grades 1 through 12 are asked to submit an original essay on the topic:

Teachers make a lasting impact on the lives of their students.
Discuss a teacher who has made a difference in
your life.

Essays from students in grades 1-5 should be 50 to 100 words; in grades 6-8, 200 to 250 words; and in grades 9-12, 350 to 400 words.

Entries will be judged by the AACC’s Student Education Association. On April 10, winners will be notified and invited to a reception on May 5 during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Awards
One first place, second place and third place winner will be be awarded in each of the following grade categories:
Elementary (grades 1-5)
Middle School (grades 6-8)
High School (grades 9-12)

Prizes
First place — 2GB iPod Shuffle
Second place — $35 Best Buy gift card
Third place — $25 Best Buy gift card

Deadline
All submissions must include students name, address, home phone, student or family e-mail, school name, teacher, and parent signature and be postmarked no later than March 20.
