System Downtime Procedures
AACC is committed to providing current and progressive technology to enhance and support the college mission. In order to continue to provide superior service to the college community, regular maintenance is required.
Regularly scheduled maintenance will occur Friday evenings from 9:30 p.m. EST to 1:30 a.m. EST. All college systems will be unavailable to students, faculty and staff during this timeframe. This includes access to e-mail via Outlook (OWA, Blackberry, SmartPhones), ANGEL (online, hybrid and web-based courses), OLA, remote access, Datatel Colleague, STARS, MyAACC, www.aacc.edu and the Intranet.
On the second Friday of every month, only the Self Services tab in MyAACC, Datatel Colleague and STARS will be unavailable from 6:30 p.m. EST to 1:30 a.m. EST.
There may be occasional instances where, for security purposes, computer systems need to be taken off line at times other than the stated schedule. In these instances, IS will give the college community an estimate of the amount of time the system or systems will be down as well as the maximum amount of lead time possible.
The Friday maintenance periods were selected to minimize the impact on learning.
Change in Downtime Schedule Beginning January 2014
In an effort to lessen the impact on students during our routine downtime scheduled on Friday evenings, we are making an adjustment to our system maintenance schedule.
Beginning in January 2014, we will start using the 2nd Friday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. for updates to all products and systems that support MyAACC to ensure that all system outages affecting students are performed at the same time. By changing this maintenance schedule, we will only be affecting student related services (ANGEL LMS, MyAACC portal, www.aacc.edu, student email access and Self Services tab) once a month. We will also continue to reschedule any downtime that coincides with a major college event, such as final exams.
