Report: Study Says Career Programs Stress College and Give Students a Leg Up
According to a June 26, 2008 article in the New York Times, high school graduates who participated in career academies were found to have achieved higher earnings and employment levels eight years after graduation.

Over the last 25 years, a high school program known as a career academy has been sprouting up across the country. Career academies combine vocational classes, training and job placement with college preparation. 

When Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation began the study 15 years ago, there were less than 500 career academies in the United States. Today there are more than 2500 career academies, with more expected in the future.
