A “good” transfer occurs when a student takes courses in support of their degree goal—the bachelor’s degree. Understanding the educational planning process is necessary to achieving that goal and there are steps that can be taken to ensure that you achieve a successful transfer.
The steps to be taken are part of a three-step transfer process detailed in A Guide for Creating a Successful Transfer.PDF
- Step 1: Know what you want. If a four-year degree is what you’re after, you’ll want to make related decisions, including what career or major you’d like and the related four-year school that’s best for you.
- Step 2: Make an academic plan so you can take courses in support of your degree goal. You’ll want to make sure that the credits you earn here are accepted at the school of your choice.
- Step 3: Apply to that college or university, so you may attend after completing your studies here at AACC.
A variety of resources to further assist you in meeting the challenges of transferring can be accessed through our Transfer Web site; through the Career and Transfer Resource Center in the Student Services Center Building/SSVC 222; and by visiting your advisor regularly.
