Step 2 – Assess Your Academic Skills
If you are a new student pursuing a degree or certificate and have not successfully completed courses in English and mathematics at other colleges then you are required to take the placement test. Nondegree seeking students who want to take courses that require specific prerequisite courses or eligibilities must meet those stated prerequisites. You may use your ACT or SAT scores instead of the college placement test. The following scores will qualify you for college level English and mathematics without any further testing: ACT English 18; ACT Math 21; SAT Critical Reading 510; and SAT Math 550. Placement test scores can be transferred within the community college system of Maryland. Placement testing for AACC's students is FREE!
