Department of Architecture and Interior Design Virtual Open House

Join the Department of Architecture and Interior Design for our virtual open house to explore the many program options we provide! Learn more about our exciting, award winning department that includes program pathways in architecture, interior design (including kitchen and bath design), construction management and landscape design.

The Department of Architecture and Interior Design is the creative branch of the School of Science, Technology and Education at AACC. The architecture, design and construction industry offers many successful career and employment opportunities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the occupational outlook in these areas is projected to grow 8% to 10% in the next 10 years, faster than average for all occupations.

During the virtual open house, faculty will present each of the program pathways offered in the department. Professor Michael Ryan, department chair, will inform participants on our award winning department and do an overview of the Architecture program. He will also present information about our travel study program, internship opportunities, service learning projects and student organizations.

Want to see architecture that you previously only saw in history books? Ryan will highlight student travel to exotic destinations like Rome, Athens, London, Paris and so much more.

Associate Professor Brandi Shepard will discuss the Construction Management program. She has successfully directed students during her tenure at AACC to flourishing careers in leadership roles within the construction industry and has an exceptional hire rate for her graduates.

Professor Robert Lowe will preview the Landscape Design program. His coursework includes both indoor and outdoor labs with his “hands-on” approach to plant identification and schematic layouts.

Assistant Professor Carol Pearce and Janet Haddock are the primary instructors for the Interior Design program. The program boasts experiences in both residential and commercial interior design, in addition to a pathway in kitchen and bath design. Two student clubs, one supported by Interior Design professionals (ASID) and the other supported by the National Kitchen and Bath Association, provide ample opportunities for student internships and networking.

Faculty at AACC have successfully guided students in their studies with skill sets recognized locally, regionally and nationally. Many students who attend AACC comment on the forward-thinking, knowledgeable and caring faculty that provide interesting course work and outstanding resources for learning.
