The courses in this program are ideal for the novice with a technical aptitude wanting to delve into app development. Students will be introduced to skills in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript for designing, building and optimizing cross-platform mobile apps that are fast and run on just about any smartphone, tablet or computer.
Employment of application software developers is projected to increase by 31% through 2027, faster than the average for all occupations. The median salary of software application developers in Maryland is approximately $101,000 per year.

The training consists of four noncredit courses, each lasting six weeks. Courses are online and cover the basic knowledge needed to begin creating mobile applications compatible with most platforms using JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.

Upon successful completion, students earn an AACC continuing education certificate. To receive the certificate, submit a Student Application for Continuing Education Certificate to the Technology Training office.

Students must be at least 16 years old with basic computer and internet experience. A basic aptitude for programming is necessary, but HTML and/or programming experience is not required.
