Nicole Redefine 1200x600

From rock bottom to bright future.

Nicole Adams is living proof that there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel of drug addiction. As a teenager, Nicole found herself spending more time partying than focused on her schoolwork. She left high school before graduating and made some decisions that left her in a dark place.

"At some point you get a wake-up call. You hit rock bottom, which looks different for everyone. For me, I realized that my education, getting a diploma, would lead me to a better future."

Nicole decided it was time to finish what she started by enrolling in a GED test prep with the goal of earning her diploma.

"I haven't always made the best choices in my life, but I knew getting my diploma would be the best decision I could make. Having a high school diploma could be the difference between getting the job or not."

Today, Nicole is enjoying her third year of sobriety and has also accomplished an important educational milestone. In January, Nicole earned her Maryland High School Diploma by passing all four sections of the GEDâ„¢ test. After just two semesters enrolled in AACC's GED™ Test Preparation and Adult Basic Skills classes, she was able to achieve this important goal on her pathway of recovery.

Nicole is currently enrolling at AACC to pursue her associate degree in Addiction Counseling so she can leverage her personal experiences to support others in recovery.
