AACC is following guidance from the CDC and the county health department regarding mpox.

What is Mpox?

Mpox is an infection caused by a virus in the same family as smallpox. For information regarding the signs, symptoms, prevention and treatment, visit the CDC’s website section on mpox

Symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Exhaustion
  • Muscle aches and backache
  • Headache
  • Respiratory symptoms (e.g. sore throat, nasal congestion, or cough)

How to Report

Anyone with a diagnosis from a health care professional should stay home and report through our reporting form or by emailing COVIDsafety@aacc.edu. We will require documentation from a medical provider before you can return to the office.

Students with mpox should contact their faculty members for guidance regarding classes until their health care provider releases them to return to class. Employees should contact their supervisors regarding whether they may telework or take leave, if they are not permitted in the office.
