Culinary or Management Internship in Hawaii

In cooperation with Kapi'olani Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii,  HCAT is able to offer an internship opportunity to culinary and hospitality management students. Students will be engaged in a supervised culinary arts, restaurant, hotel or tourism work experience planned to meet individual needs.

Students who complete this program will earn college credit from Kapi’olani Community College, which must be pre-approved for transfer to Anne Arundel Community College to replace HRM 275 Practicum. Depending on the hours worked per week in the internship experience, students may be able to enroll in other courses for credit.

Program Objectives: 

  • To assist students in acquiring additional skills beyond their classroom education by means of a practical training session.
  • To assist students in developing or improving job skills and attitudes by means of learning experiences and observations of industry workers and stations.
  • To establish work related experiences for student to fulfill graduation requirements.

Housing

Students will apply for housing on the campus of Kapi’olani Community College and will be housed in simple student apartment/suites with shared living space for up to eight people. Most students will have roommates.

Kapi’olani Community College is located on the slopes of Diamond Head, just minutes from Waikiki Beach, and is home to the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. View more information

Cost

Approximate cost for the semester is $6,000 and includes airfare, tuition, textbooks, and housing in college residences.

To apply, please complete the forms in the information packet, available from HCAT (410-777-7073). A letter of recommendation is required from an HCAT instructor; a letter of recommendation from an employer is highly encouraged. You will also be required to complete an admissions packet from Kai’olani Community College, available from the HCAT director.
