Rick Malmgren began working as a full-time potter in 1975. In 1990 he started teaching at St. John’s College and a year later he joined AACC as a part-time faculty member and the ceramics studio technician.  He was hired as a full-time faculty member in the Visual Arts department in 2001. He lives with his wife, Judy, and their beautiful German Shepherd “Lark” in a log cabin on the Patuxent River in southern Anne Arundel County.

Program: We offer three levels of ceramics courses in the newly renovated ceramics studio in the Careers Center. Our classes cover a variety of hand building, wheel and simple mold making techniques. We also introduce a range of decorating and glazing methods, and we fire in electric, gas and Raku kilns.
