In 2011:

  • Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) received a national Innovation of the Year award from the League for Innovation in the Community College for the college’s Student Success 2020 Summit, which engaged the entire college faculty and staff in charting new initiatives to help more students achieve their academic and career goals.   • G.I. Jobs magazine has once again named Anne Arundel Community College as a Military Friendly School for 2011.
  • Anne Arundel Community College’s Transportation, Logistics and Cargo Security program was named a National Council for Continuing Education and Training (NCCET) 2010 Mid-Atlantic Region Exemplary Program in the Workforce and Economic Development category at the organization’s national conference in October.
  • Joan B. Doolittle, professor of psychology at Anne Arundel Community College, was named a top national and state online educator in separate awards, e-Learning Faculty Award from the national Instructional Technology Council and the Higher Learning Distance Educator of the Year award from the Maryland Distance Learning Association (MDLA).

In 2010:

  • Anne Arundel Community College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. The results, released July 25, 2010 in The Chronicle’s third annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of more than 42,000 employees at 277 colleges and universities. In all, only 97 of the 277 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with AACC included among the large institutions with 10,000 or more students. AACC was also one of 39 colleges nationwide named to the Honor Roll acknowledging the institutions that were recognized the most in their size categories.   • Anne Arundel Community College has been selected as one of 17 programs from across the United States to be profiled, providing detailed information about its Career Pathway program in Education and Training, including secondary, postsecondary and business/industry engagement.
  • Anne Arundel Community College’s Transportation, Logistics and Cargo Security certificate was named the Maryland Distance Learning Association’s Distance Education Program of the Year.
  • Anne Arundel Community College was named for a fourth consecutive year to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll (2009) by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
  • Anne Arundel Community College’s Transitions Advisers won the 2010 League for Innovation in the Community College Innovation Award for Learning and Teaching. The transitions team helps facilitate successful student transition from high school to college or careers through program pathways.
  • The National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have designated Anne Arundel Community College as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information System Security Education for Information Assurance Two-Year Education (CAE2Y) for the academic years 2010 through 2015.

In 2009:

  • AACC was named one of the Top Ten Community Colleges with Foremost Use of Digital Technology. AACC took 6th place in e.Republic’s Center for Digital Education and Converge magazine's 5th Annual Digital Community Colleges Survey. Those chosen are leading community colleges across the U.S. that offer exceptional technology support to students and educators.
