Counseling Services and Crisis Intervention

Although your college years can be your best years, they can also be very stressful and challenging, both academically and personally. To assist you in meeting these challenges and to facilitate your making the most of your college experience, Anne Arundel Community College’s Counseling Services offers Master’s-level trained professionals who are available to talk with you about your issues and concerns.

AACC’s counselors use a brief counseling approach with the following characteristics and goals:

  • We focus on specific concerns you have that may lead to academic difficulties. We do not provide services involving the application of counseling principles and methods in the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of psychological problems and emotional or mental conditions.
  • We do refer students to other resources in the College or in the community. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis and is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to issues requiring more time to be addressed that the office allows, the expertise of staff addressing the problem, and the availability of staff and other resources.
  • Our service is time-limited to a maximum of three visits, 50 minutes each.
  • We provide our services without charge to students currently registered at Anne Arundel Community College.

AACC’s Counseling Services is located on the second floor of the Student Services Center Building, Arnold Campus. To make an appointment with a counselor, call Counseling, Advising and Retention Services (CARS) at 410-777-7111, or stop by CARS’ offices.

For mental health assistance call the Anne Arundel County Crisis Response Warmline at 410-768-5522 or the Maryland Crisis Hotline at 800-422-0009, 7-days a week/24-hours a day.
