The first step to applying for financial aid or scholarships is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Whether or not you think you qualify, everyone is encouraged to apply. Why? Because while federal student aid is the largest source of financial assistance for college, other types of aid (private scholarships, state grants) also may be available to you. Anne Arundel Community College and the Maryland Higher Ed Commission use the FAFSA to assess your eligibility. The only way you’ll know if you’re eligible, and the only way we’ll be able to help you navigate your options, is to complete a FAFSA.

Simply go to www.fafsa.gov. You can start applying as early as Jan. 1 for the upcoming school year and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. AACC’s Federal School Code is: 002058

Helpful Tips
  • The FAFSA must be completed for every school year for which you wish to receive aid. It determines your eligibility for financial aid.
  • Completing and submitting the FAFSA before March 1 makes sure your data also will be reviewed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, which awards state aid.
  • Completion of the FAFSA is a required component for many scholarships, both private and public, and not just for AACC but for most colleges. It’s a good idea to submit an application even if you think you might not qualify.

AACC Deadlines

We encourage you to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. You must have your FAFSA completed and the results provided to AACC by Aug. 15 for the fall term and before Jan. 15 for the spring term to register without the required initial payment.

If your FAFSA results are received on or after these dates for the term you plan to enroll, a required initial payment at the time of registration is required or you must present a third party payment contract to the Cashier’s Office.

Financial aid for the summer term must be awarded prior to your registration or you must submit the required down payment on the day you register for summer classes. You can check your award status online through your MyAACC account.
