GIFT AID
Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is available to full and part-time students with high financial need who have not completed a bachelor's degree. Eligibility and award amounts are based on each student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Payment amounts also vary based on each student's level of enrollment (1/4 time, 1/2 time, 3/4 time, and full-time). Students must meet the General Eligibility Requirements. To apply, submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)
AACC awards FSEOG to full and part-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant. Funds are limited and are only awarded to students with exceptional financial need and who meet other criteria. Students must meet the General Eligibility Requirements. To apply, submit a FAFSA.
Federal TEACH Program
The TEACH Program provides up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a high need field in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. It does not require students to demonstrate any financial need.
Maryland Part-time State Grant
AACC awards these state grants based on financial need. Students must be pursuing a degree, taking 6 to 11 credits per semester, and be a Maryland resident. Students must meet the General Eligibility Requirements and must be pursuing an Associate's Degree. Certificate students are not eligible. To apply, submit a FAFSA.
Maryland State Scholarships and Grants
The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) awards a variety of grants and scholarships to Maryland residents attending Maryland colleges and universities. Students complete the FAFSA prior to March 1 each year. Students must meet the General Eligibility Requirements and additional MHEC requirements. Certificate students are not eligible to receive Maryland Educational Assistance Grants, Maryland Hope Scholarships, and Maryland Part-Time Grants. Direct Subsidized Loans: To receive Direct Subsidized Loans, student must demonstrate financial need. Subsidized Loans are interest free while the student is in school, but begin accruing interest 6 months after the student ceases to be enrolled at least 6 credits (half-time).
Direct Unsubsidized Loans: Direct Unsubsidized Loans do not require financial need. These loans are not interest free while students are in school. These loans begin accruing interest after disbursement.
The FWS Program provides employment opportunities to students who demonstrate financial need. Jobs are part-time during the academic year and can be full-time during the summer and semester breaks. Students who are awarded FWS must review available job listings and schedule interviews with approved employers. Students must meet the General Eligibility Requirements. To apply, submit a FAFSA.
Institutional Student Employment (ISEP) Program
This program provides employment to students who do not qualify for the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program. Like the FWS program, students may work part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer and semester breaks. All jobs are located on campus. The number of positions is limited.
