Veteran's Benefits

Tips:
  • You must renew your benefits every semester by completing the AACC VA Certification Form (PDF).
  • Make sure your academic program is listed correctly with the Department of Veterans Affairs and AACC.  They must match.  To correct your program with AACC, contact the Records Office. To correct your program with the Veterans Affairs, complete a VA Change of Program or Place of Training form.
  • VA benefits will only pay for classes that are required by your curriculum.
  • Veterans and active duty members must submit their DD214 or DD-295 to the AACC Records Office.
  • Be very careful to fill out all forms accurately and completely. The application process takes a long time, and errors delay the process even more.

Veterans Of The Afghanistan And Iraq Conflicts Scholarship Program

Schedule Changes

If you adjust your schedule after you apply for a semester’s VA benefits:

  1. Submit your schedule changes to the AACC Records Office, MyAACC web site, or STARS telephone registration (410-777-2241).
  2. You must submit an AACC VA Change of Schedule Form to the Student Financial Services Office.
  3. If you “withdraw” from a class after the college’s 100% Tuition Refund period and this withdrawal alters your VA benefit amount, the VA will ask you to repay all the benefits you received for the withdrawn classes unless you provide them with a “legitimate reason.”  If you have “legitimate reasons,” fill out a “VA Statement in Support of Claim” (21-4138)  form, attach relevant documentation, and mail it to the Department Of Veterans Affairs, P.O. Box 4616, Buffalo, NY 14240-4616.
