Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219 was filled with well-dressed future AACC alumni who were poised to learn strategies to enable them to move with ease and confidence in the business and social arenas during the college’s first Etiquette Dinner. 

While the attendees were seated at tables with tablecloths and fine china, Sonja Gladwin, AACC’s Training Resource Manager for the Center for Workforce Solutions, gave a presentation regarding nonverbal communication, presenting oneself with confidence and projecting a professional and polished image.

The second part of the evening consisted of a presentation on social etiquette and was given by Ken Upton with Ken’s Creative Kitchens, one of the area’s premier caterers. Mr. Upton, then, had his catering staff serve a four-course dinner for the attendees to enjoy.

Mike Ballas Day – (Alumni and friends honored the memory of Coach Ballas.) – April 29, 2006

AACC baseball, lacrosse and softball alumni and fans attended a fun-filled day of athletic events and connected with old friends. A plaque was presented to Coach Ballas’s family in honor of his outstanding service to students and staff as a coach, teacher and mentor for over 30 years.

On June 3rd, more than 75 alumni joined in the festivities and shared fond memories.  Everyone enjoyed the tropical theme by wearing their flowered shirts, leis and enjoying both the decorations inside – an ice sculpture of a palm tree and clam with a pearl, and outside - sitting on the brick patio on a perfect evening. 

The band was playing, the chef was serving a delicious dinner, along with plenty of cold drinks, and the room was full of good conversation.  Everyone was thrilled to catch up with Chris Storck, who has been with AACC’s Student Life Office for over 22 years as well as their fellow student association members.

More than 50 attendees attended a two-hour get-together where they enjoyed the company of former colleagues and a display of photos from their days at AACC. This was the first get-together of its kind for past faculty and staff as requested by the Retired/Former Faculty and Staff Affinity Group. The luxury of having extra time to visit with each other combined with attending the Annual College Retirees Reception with a crowd of over 175, made for a memorable day. 

Classes of the '60s Reunion – June 10, 2006

What a party! Nearly 80 alumni from the 1960s and their guests gathered on campus for an evening of fun and friendship, campus tours, a delicious buffet dinner, door prizes and dancing to musical hits from the 1960s and 1970s. Many of those checking out the changes on campus recognized our tour director for the evening, Rob Hendry, an employee for 28 years and graduate of the ‘70s. Alumni from as far away as Florida reunited with classmates, sharing memories while viewing yearbooks and a photo display covering the college’s first 10 years. Several of those attending reported that the event brought them face to face with classmates for the first time in 40 years.
