Italy: The Grand Tour

Roman Colosseum AD 72
Hear from Former Travelers:

"When I first heard about the trip to France & Spain I knew I had to find a way to go. I have wanted to travel overseas but never had time to plan something out. As soon as we landed in France, I knew my life was Changed. Every city we went to was absolutely breathtaking. As an Architecture student, I couldn’t wait to see all of these famous buildings In person. Textbooks do not do these buildings justice!"

“Signing up for this travel study was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The trip was full of exciting adventures and gave us a chance to walk through history. One of the biggest surprises was the way the cities functioned. Paris, Barcelona and Madrid were all extremely densely populated areas yet did not dominate the surrounding landscape.”

“Signing up for a Travel Study lends first to the excitement of traveling away from home and exploring other cultures of the world and in our case the Architecture of the world. For me, that was the most exciting part of the trip, realizing that we would be seeing some of the buildings that I recently studied in ACH 221 & 222. The first thought I had when we landed other then making sure I got my first espresso, was - Wow!, I’m in another country!”

"After seeing the amazing buildings and gardens I am becoming more aware of architecture everywhere. Every place we went to was beautiful to walk through and the food was amazing. My favorite places would have to be Avignon and Carcassonne, I wish could have spent more time there."

“Traveling to Europe proved to be both architecturally and culturally enlightening. It goes without saying that studying architecture in any other manner other than personally experiencing the actual structure is merely a substitute to which a comparison can hardly be made.”

“I think the most exciting part of the trip was when we walked out of the airport.  Your nerves are filled with excitement and your adrenaline rushing - then it finally hits you, “You’re actually in Europe.” It’s the greatest feeling!

“It was in Paris that I found a new meaning to my work as an architecture student, artist, and person. One cannot easily erase just how beautiful the culmination of historical treasures that line the streets of this city. This trip taken with Anne Arundel Community College has become a new phase in the way I look to the world for inspiration and knowledge.”
