Workshop Presentation Request Procedure
The Career and Transfer Resource Center staff are available to facilitate workshop presentations to campus groups, classes, and community organizations.

Workshop titles and lengths:
- Comprehensive Transfer Advice: Introduces the transfer process. Learn how to achieve a “no loss of credit” transfer and to navigate ARTSYS and the transfer services Web site.

Career Exploration and Decision Making: Come for an overview of the resources available to assist you with the career exploration and decision making process. Participate in several activities to help you better understand your interests, values and skills and how they relate to career decision-making. Participants will receive a token to take a free online career assessment. Individual follow-up appointments are available with a career counselor.

Job Shadowing for Career Exploration: They say, “the best teacher is experience.” If you are trying to clarify your career goals or determine what training you need to enter a specific occupation, one of the best things that you can do is talk with and observe working professionals on their job sites. This workshop is an introduction to the AACC Connections! Program that connects students with working professionals for information interviews and job shadowing.
- AACC JobConnection via College Central Network: Internet Job Database powered by College Central Network. The database includes job postings from area employers, services for job seekers, information regarding various career events in the community and much more.
- Get Savvy with your Job Search: Take control of your job search. There’s more to the job search than looking for ads in the newspaper. Get a quick overview of critical areas of the job search process and how to become proactive.
- Resume Magic: The hardest part is getting started. Hear what employers are looking for on a resume. We will show you how to identify key skills and how to present information on your education, work and other experiences.
- Ace your Job Interview: Remember, you will not get a second chance to make a first impression. Hear how you can set yourself apart from hundreds of other job seekers. Master the different phases and types of interviews and connect with the employer.
- Negotiate your way to Career Success: Learn how to convert your knowledge, skills and abilities into a great benefits package. Learn to negotiate your salary and maximize your earning potential.
- Resumes for Federal Jobs: Resumes used to apply for jobs in the federal government are different than private sector resumes. In this workshop you will learn the basics of writing a federal resume.
- Career Opportunities in the Federal Government: The federal government is the largest employer in the greater Washington area and offers career opportunities in a wide range of occupations. Yet, federal employment has a unique set of advantages and disadvantages. In this workshop you will learn about federal employment and federal job hunting.
- What can DISCOVER do for you?: Don't have a clue about what you want to "be" when you "grow up"? Thinking about making a career change? Are you still undecided about a major or program of study? Help is available.
- Do what you like: Why not spend your workday doing what you like to do? This is possible. In this workshop, participants will complete the Self Directed Search to identify their interests and skills and see how they relate to career decision-making.
- Choosing a Major: Assistance in choosing a college major.
- Stress Management: Stress can lead to physical, emotional, and psychological problems if not properly managed.
