Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Training

Start your career in truck driving by earning either the CDL-A license required for driving heavy truck and tractor-trailers or CDL-B license required for driving straight trucks, dump trucks, passenger buses and motor coaches.

What is the job outlook?
The number of heavy truck and tractor-trailer truck drivers is expected to grow 13 percent through 2018, which is about as fast as average. Heavy truck and tractor-trailer drivers in Maryland earned an average annual salary of nearly $41,000 per year. Employment of light truck and delivery service drivers is expected to grow 4 percent through 2018 and earn an average annual salary of $36,000.

Commercial Drivers License A

What is the training?
Offered in partnership with All-State Career School in Baltimore CDL-A training consists of one classroom lecture course and one driving range and highway course and can be completed in as quickly as three weeks. Students will receive their CDL-A license from the Motor Vehicle Administration upon successful completion of the course and road test. The courses are approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Total Hours: 144

OCA-335 - CDL Class A – Part 2 Control Skills 

What credentials can I earn?
Upon successful completion students earn an AACC continuing education certificate. To receive the certificate students complete and submit the form to our office. The form and instructions can be found at www.aacc.edu/coned/certificates

What will it cost?
$3,905 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition, fees and MVA Class A road test

What are the requirements?
Students must be at least 18 years old, have a good driving record and pass a medical examination and drug screen. Students must have a CDL driver's permit from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration prior to enrolling.

Commercial Drivers License B

What is the training?

Students will receive their CDL-B license from the Motor Vehicle Administration after they complete the course and the road test. The following course has been approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Total Hours: 52
