Child Care Training - Early Childhood Professionals

AACC helps child care professionals stay current with the latest teaching and child care practices by offering courses that meet state requirements. Child care centers and in-home providers can seek training for behavioral and emotional support, CPR, 90-hour certification and have access to professional development, mentoring, consultation, conferences and a speaker’s bureau.

~ Child Care Grant Opportunity ~

  • Take classes offered by Child Care Training that can help you meet state education requirements for the six levels of The Maryland Child Care Credential, established by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care.
  • The Behavioral, Emotional Support and Training (BEST)PDF program offers free services for behavioral consultation for children exhibiting difficult behaviors, behavioral assessment, program planning and training for parents and family child care providers and center staff who work with children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.
  • Credit and noncredit courses are available to meet the 90-hour child care certification requirements for directors and senior staff. See the fall 2008PDF and winter 2009PDF classes for more information.
  • The Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S) fulfills the state educational requirements for employment as a director, senior staff member, school-age staff member and /or director of a school-age program in a child care center. See the current college catalog for information on the A.A.S. degree.
  • Early Childhood Development/Education students who have taken 45-hour pre-service training from CCA approved vendors may be eligible to take challenge tests to convert these noncredit classes to credit classes in the degree program.
