Nanny/Au Pair

Further your education while working as a nanny/au pair or prepare for that important job with marketable training in the child care field.

What is the job outlook?
Employment growth for nannies and au pairs is about as fast as the average for all occupations. Job earnings vary based on hours and contractual arrangements but average approximately $10 per hour.

What is the training?
Training consists of six noncredit continuing education courses. In these face-to-face courses, students will learn the principles of child growth and development; nutrition and fitness; and communication with parents and children. CDA 308 and CDA 310 also can be used to meet the requirements for the Child Development Associate Certificate. Total Hours: 72

DYC 368 – Fitness, Nutrition and Fun for Young Children
DCR 331 – Building Healthy Relationship with Parents
DYC 361 – Effective Communication with Parents and Children
DYC 321 – Proactive Behavior Guidance

What credentials can I earn?

Upon successful completion students earn an AACC continuing education certificate. To receive the certificate students complete and submit the form to our office. The form and instructions can be found at www.aacc.edu/coned/certificates.  

What will it cost?
$468 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition and fees

What are the requirements?
Students must be at least 16 years old.
