Creative Writing at Anne Arundel Community College
The Associate in Fine Arts in Creative Writing is a two-year program designed to provide students with an opportunity to develop as readers and writers and to develop their talents in writing fiction, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, and nonfiction.
While studying with faculty who are practicing poets and prose writers, Creative Writing majors explore the resources of their imaginations, sharpen their critical and verbal skills, and develop a professional attitude about their writing.
The primary goal of this program is to prepare students for advanced undergraduate study in creative writing. Students completing the Creative Writing Option develop a portfolio of original work for submission to baccalaureate level writing programs, as well as reputable journals. The comprehensive core of general education courses and specialized courses in Creative Writing also prepares students for transfer to programs in related disciplines.
