Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice

Depending on your academic or professional interests, we can offer you several training and educational options in the field of criminal justice - specifically in law enforcement, corrections and social justice.

WE OFFER:

  • Associate of Applied Sciences Degree (A.A.S) designed primarily for immediate employment and is identified with a speciality designation.
  • Letter of Recognition is awarded to students who complete fewer than twelve credits in a prescribed sequence of courses focused on acquition of specific skill sets or of concepts within a specific context.
  • Certificates are for people who wish to gain a credential for acquired knowledge, skills and abilities focused in specific discipline areas.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice A.A.S. Degree
Students must complete a minimum of 62 credit hours.
This degree lends to several careers including correctional officer, police officer, forensics, or juvenile justice counselor/supervisor.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice A.A.S. Degree - Police Academy Option
Students must complete a minimum of 73 credits.
After completion, students are provisionally certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission and ready to be hired by a state or local law enforcement agency in Maryland.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice A.A.S. Degree - Social Justice Option
Students must complete a minimum of 63 credits.
This degree leads to several careers including advocacy/counseling, political lobbyist, criminal justice or sociological researcher.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Certificate
Students must complete a minimum of 24 credits.
This program is especially beneficial for students currently employed in the field of criminal justice who are looking to enhance their academic training for advancement or change in career paths.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Certificate - Police Option 
Students must complete a minimum of 42 credits.
After completion, students are provisionally certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission and ready to be hired by a state or local law enforcement agency in Maryland.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Letter of Recognition - Investigator Option
Students complete 9 credits.
This options serves as a foundation for careers as a licensed private investigator, attorney investigator,  industrial security investigator or paralegal investigator.

Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Letter of Recognition - Law Enforcement Evidence Technician Option
Students complete 11 credits.
This option serves as a foundation and exploration in the field of forensics and laboratory aide or assistant.
