Over the past 25 years, AACC’s Dance Company has drawn hundreds of talented dancers into this high-performing “family.” Several now teach dance or own their own dance studios or other dance-related businesses. Some Dance Company alums have gone on to advance pretty far in the professional dance world.
Lance Guillermo, who teaches and choreographs around the country, has danced with Lady Gaga and Gloria Estefan, performed on The View and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, served as an extra in the movie “Step Up,” and danced in and helped choreograph the Disney film, “Lemonade Mouth.” Today, Guillermo owns a dance talent agency with his wife, Danielle Sten-Guillermo. Last summer, the pair gave a special performance of “Working America” at AACC to help kick off the Dance Company’s 25th year.
Jamile McGee, who was also back for last summer’s alumni concert, finished third on the first season of Fox TV’s popular reality show, “So You Think You Can Dance!” McGee has gone on to dance alongside Beyonce and appeared in numerous music videos including Nelly Furtado's "Maneater," Chris Brown's "Gimme That" and Rihanna's "SOS."
Regardless of what they are doing now, many keep in touch or stop by one of the Dance Company’s twice-weekly rehearsals to get a “good workout.” So far, more than 100 alums plan to be on hand for the festivities happening over the silver anniversary weekend May 1-3.
