Driver Instructor Certification

AACC offers "Disability, Vision, Aging: Effects on Driving" for those interested in starting or improving a driver rehabilitation program, those who refer individuals for services, or those just interested in broadening their knowledge of the field. The course is offered in conjunction with the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED). AACC also offers driver education instructor certification courses approved by the MVA.

DRV-509 - Disability, Vision, Aging: Effect on Driving 
Learn how disabilities, vision and aging problems affect driving. Study acquired, congenital, developmental and progressive disabilities. Examine age-related visual impairments. Learn about the driver assessment process, adaptive driving equipment and vehicle modification needs, and driver licensing issues. 
Note: Offered in partnership with the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED). ADED members may be eligible for a reduced course fee. Call 410-777-2939 for more information. Approved for 16 ADED contact hours. Approved by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice for 14 contact hours.

DRV-506 - Driver Education Instructor Certification
Gain an overview of the Maryland Standardized Curriculum for driver education instruction, effective presentation skills and creative classroom techniques. 
Note: This course is required by the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and is a part of the licensure and certification process for Maryland driver education instructors. The MVA has additional requirements that must be met before individuals are licensed and certified.

DRV-507 - Driver Education Instructor Certification: Behind the Wheel
Learn the Maryland Standardized Curriculum in-car guidelines for behind-the-wheel instruction. 
Note: This course is required by the MVA and is a part of the licensure and certification process for Maryland driver education instructors. The MVA has additional requirements that must be met before individuals are licensed and certified. Instructor candidates must supply a driver education instructional vehicle for behind-the-wheel sessions. Class does not meet full days on Saturdays when in-vehicle training is scheduled.
