Apply Now Earn a Degree, Certificate or College Credit Get Job Training and Professional Skills Take Classes for Fun or Personal Enrichment
Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) have partnered to align high school coursework with AACC college courses.

This allows students who successfully complete certain AACPS high school programs, and score a grade of C or higher on the AACC college proficiency assessment*, to earn college credit at no cost to the student. The grade is recorded on the AACC student academic transcript as proficiency credit. Students may earn no more than 15 academic credits through proficiency assessment(s).

Credit awarded through proficiency credit may not transfer to other institutions. Be sure to check with the institution that you want to transfer to and determine if they will accept proficiency credit.

Apply for Proficiency Credit

If you are enrolled in a high school program that is eligible for proficiency credit, complete the following steps to request credit:

1. Apply to AACC. You can find additional assistance about the online application process in the drop-down below.

How do proficiency students apply to AACC?

  1. Apply to AACC online
    • Go to our Apply page to complete an application.
    • Under Fields of Interest on the application, select Non-Degree Seeking.
    • You will need a valid, personal email account so we can notify you when it's time to activate your MyAACC account and set your password. 
  2. Check your email
    • After completing your online application, you will receive two emails. The first is a confirmation that your application was received. The second email is from passwordmanagement@aacc.edu with your AACC ID number, username and a single use security code. This information allows you to verify your identity, activate your MyAACC account and set your password.
  3. Confirm your contact information
    • Once you’ve set your initial password, you’ll need to make sure your contact information is up to date. If you ever need to reset your password, AACC will send a temporary security code to your phone or personal email. This will allow you to verify your identify and manage
      your password 24/7.

2. Complete a Request for Proficiency Credit form, print, complete necessary signatures and then give or email the completed form to your program pathway teacher.

3. Earn a grade of C or better on the proficiency assessment.

You may only take the proficiency assessment once. Your AACC college transcript grade will be the same as your proficiency assessment grade. Proficiency grades lower than C will not be reflected on your AACC transcript.*

 

*The Childhood Development Associate (CDA) program requires a grade of "B" or better to earn proficiency credit.
