STUDENT SERVICES ADMISSIONS ASSISTANT

Department: Admissions & Enrollment Development

The Office of Admissions is seeking applications for the temporary hourly position (without benefits) of Admission Assistant. The Admission Assistant will work Monday through Thursday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for a total of 20 hours per week.

The Admission Assistant provides comprehensive customer service in person, via the telephone, mail or online.  The Admission Assistant is responsible for providing general assistance in enrollment intake, registration, and records retention functions to students and staff promptly, courteously and accurately.

Qualifications:  An associate degree is required and a bachelor's degree is preferred along with relevant employment experience in a college or university, marketing, education or customer service environment.  The employee will be warm, friendly, highly organized, and will be self-starter capable of working independently.  The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office programs, e-mail, and the internet.  Experience with student information systems, such as Datatel Colleague, Datatel Recruiter, Datatel Informer, Banner or PeopleSoft is highly desirable.

Salary:  Commensurate with experience with a range of $12.00 - $16.00 per hour

Duties: 
Prepare new, continuing and returning students for enrollment.  Advise on all aspects of admissions policies, educational standards, and special programs, such as Gifted and Talented, Concurrent Enrollment, the Early College Access Program (ECAP), Program Pathways, and other dual enrollment programs.  This includes prospective and continuing international students and students enrolled in the college's English as a Second Language program.

Process student inquiries, applications and registrations.  Retrieve, edit and verify applicant information.  Respond to inquiries for assistance in person, online and on the telephone.  Evaluate appropriate test scores and transcripts to assist in proper student placement.

Provide outstanding customer service to prospective and current students.

Use the student information system to retrieve and disseminate information such as class availability and location and provide accurate information.

Assist callers with transacting business with the college by providing accurate information or instructions, and in diagnosing and identifying a solution for problems.
