The Desktop Support Assistant works under the direction of a senior staff member and provides basic support of computer workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, applications and audiovisual equipment for both instructional and administrative areas. The individual assists in providing customer support for students, faculty and staff.

The individual will work under the guidance of a senior staff member to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues, formatting and configuring laptop/desktop computers and mobile devices, delivering and setting up equipment, and performing basic software installations and upgrades. The individual also will assist with inventory administration and preventive maintenance in labs and smart rooms.  


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Some college-level coursework in computer-related courses required; audiovisual and/or multimedia knowledge/experience helpful. Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (such as Word and O365) and internet capabilities.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to provide clear, concise directions and guidance, and a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service in a prompt, cooperative and friendly manner.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Desire to learn new technologies.
  • Current certification in A+ or other related technology desired but not mandatory.
  • Work involves periodic lifting of moderately heavy items (under 50 pounds).


$13 per hour

Work Schedule

Flexible schedule Monday through Saturday
