CAD @ AACC

Welcome! If you're a visual and creative problem solver looking for a practical education and career, you've come to the right place.

Computer-aided drafting and design is a vital skill set in the engineering field. Drafters use complex computer software to convert engineering designs into technical drawings and plans. Drafters find employment in the architecture, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering fields. They use their drafting skills to help design everything from microchips to skyscrapers!

Every building, car, piece of technology (anything that’s produced) begins as a drawing. Think about that. CAD drawings can be used to build everything from manufactured products such as toys, toasters, industrial machinery, or spacecraft; to structures, such as houses, office buildings, or oil and gas pipelines. CAD technicians create the drawings that become the objects and buildings around us. They use both computer aided drafting (CAD) and freehand drafting, both of which are taught at AACC. Drafters work with cutting edge, modern technology. It’s important to have attention to detail, patience and take pride in your work – all of which you will (hopefully) gain after taking our CAD classes at AACC.

Technology & Labs

We have two complete CAD/drafting labs with high-spec PCs and up-to-date CAD software. We also have a full machine lab with a CNC mill, lathe, and a dimension 3D printer, which allows students to print out reach working models of their creations.
