Invasive Species Control

Solutions

Discovering effective methods to control invasive species is difficult because of their highly resistant, robust nature.

They are invasive because their life cycle is better adapted to the environment than the life cycles of those plants that they displace. This means that invasive plants can be very difficult to control and herbicides may be necessary. Fortunately, effective protocols for the control of phragmites using herbicides have been developed and tested. To learn more about phragmites control see "Summary of Common Questions Concerning Phragmites Control" for frequently asked questions about the plants or "Common Reed Phragmites australis: Control and Effects Upon Biodiversity in Freshwater Nontidal Wetlands" for our latest research.
