I am AACC's ESL Student: Acacia

Student Snapshot: Acacia

Hometown: Mexico. Even though Acacia was born in the
United States, she spent the first 15 years of her life in Mexico.
On returning to the United States at the age of 16, she was
impressed to discover how multicultural the United States is.

Her Reasons for Attending AACC:  "I decided to come to
AACC because AACC is one of the best community colleges
in the United States for its great service for all kinds of people
who want to prosper." Acacia has participated in both the
Adelante Hispanic Summer Bridge Program and
Student Achievement and Success Program.

Her Thoughts about AACC: "It's a wonderful college;
never in my life have I received so much help as in AACC.
It has great service and tutoring for students. It was one the
most important decisions in my life, and I know that I decided correctly."

Her Current Studies at AACC and Future Plans: "I am
here to learn academic and formal English. I am planning to
transfer to a four-year university to study pre-law or medicine."

Her Inspiration: Acacia's grandparents in Mexico are her
inspiration, who tell her, "If you want, you can."

Her Role Model: "John F. Kennedy. He wanted to make a
difference in the lives of Americans. I want to help improve society
through medicine or the law."
