A Little More

At AACC, you get the chance to take classes with professors who bring extensive real-world experience to the classroom. A. Keith Adkins Jr. is one of those professors. He had a distinguished 25-year career in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), serving in roles such as criminal investigator and instructor for the FBI/DEA Training Academy. He received various professional awards throughout his career, including an Exceptional Performance award from the DEA.

Adkins first started teaching at AACC part time in 2003. In 2014, three years after retiring from the DEA, he became a full-time professor, teaching courses in criminal justice and homeland security. He is passionate about helping his students achieve their professional dreams and aspirations.

“What I enjoy the most is the chance to educate, mentor and guide the future of young minds, and the camaraderie that I have with my colleagues,” he said. “They make AACC an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.”
