applied foresight... using the perspective
There are a number of so-called disruptive innovations in the educational landscape today, such as MOOCS (massive open online courses). This is a short video of a presentation about these innovations and their trajectories from the 2012 World Future Society Conference.
futures thinking... looking ahead
Converting atmospheric carbon dioxide into fuels and other useful carbon compounds in a cost effective way is looking more promising. Key to this is developing a way which produces more fuel than is expended to accomplish the process. A research group at the University of Georgia has successfully done this on a small scale, using a microorganism to convert carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas into fuels and other carbon compounds. Meanwhile, a research group at Princeton University has used carbon dioxide, water and sunlight to make methanol and other useful carbon compounds.
