Stem cell research holds the promise of developing treatments for a number of serious diseases.  This National Institute of Health site features a wealth of information, starting with the fundamentals and including current research.

Integrating alternative and clean energy sources with efficient distribution and usage systems is a critical global need. This United Nations Foundation site and the site of the Energy Future Coalition focus on climate and energy relationships, and on developing workable policy options. 

Green chemistry provides an environmentally sustainable framework for chemists as they design processes and new materials. This American Chemical Society site explains the Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry, and features a green chemistry quiz.

Is joining the Futures Interested Group (FIG) for you? FIG at AACC promotes futuring and foresight activities for students and learners of all kinds. FIG is a student club that offers two types of membership: (1) Regular Members for registered students at AACC and (2) Associate Members for anyone else who wants to participate. Interested? WorldFuture 2010 Conference "Sustainable Futures, Strategies, and Technologies" will be July 8-10 in Boston, Massachusetts. Registration is now open for this annual conference of the World Future Society.

Interested in a course on the future for college credit?
Check our Exploring the Future (FTR 100) class listing. This is a 3 credit-hour General Education course which also satisfies the diversity requirement. Spring Term registration is now open both the online and traditional face-to-face classes.
