Planning for environmental sustainability not only protects the physical environment, but promotes financial advantages. This Environmental Defense Fund site includes a multitude of planning information links, for instance, remodeling a buidling to emit zero carbon dioxide, solar-powered web hosting, and many others.

The global economy is a prime concern. Some economists refer to K waves, a model for historical trends which perhaps can inform the present and the future. This site has more information about K waves, or Kondratieff Theory.

Mercury emissions and discharges threaten the health of millions of people world-wide. Recently over 140 nations agreed to begin negotiations to develop an international treaty to deal with this threat. This United Nations Web site describes the initiative.

Interested in a course on the future for college credit?
Check our Exploring the Future (FTR 100) class listing. This is a 3 credit-hour General Education course which also satisfies the diversity requirement. Spring Term registration is now over, but Summer Term registration will be available in April for both online and traditional face-to-face classes.

Register for noncredit futures modules
For professional development or personal enrichment, these online modules may be taken alone or in combination. These modules are suitable for employers or educators looking for some background information in order to introduce their employees or students to futuring.
