Credit course on the Future: Spring 2006
Focus on the Future is a three-credit college course on the future. You may register for SOC284 Focus on the Future through normal college enrollment procedures. This course is constantly updated, but you can view the current course syllabus

Continued Bird Flu View... What can YOU do? Follow the updates from  the Center for Disease Control (USA) and the  World Health Organization say about bird flu?  Thinking locally, acting locally, hence, globally: Pandemics, flu and avian (bird) flu... clearly global and local concerns.  See some of the steps each of us can take to impact the future and to prevent flu as provided by one local health department. 

Careers are futures? Absolutely.  Mapping-Your-Future  provides middle school learner through adult learners can find valuable tips for applying foresight in career building on this useful website.

Educators - Want to add the future to your course?  Kindergarten through graduate school teachers and professors are adding a view of the future to their courses.  If this is you, stop by our teacher feature at IF @ AACC. This month's highlight is a complete learning module that features the first chapter of Ed Cornish's future's text Futuring (downloadable as a pdf file for student reading) and a set of Power Point slides that support the chapter for educator use!

Robots and other "bots"... they're not for science fiction anymore..."in Japan and the United States, engineers are finally putting some practical exoskeletons through their paces outside of laboratories."

Space? What is the "The Potential Importance of Passenger Space Travel Services"or the "Spaceport Business - Potential Markets Through 2020.  See Space Future archives.

What can art say about the future? What do"images of China like those currently on display in an exhibition at London's Victoria and Albert museum" mean about China now and the future?  "Images from a country in transition.." may give some insight and foresight.

Looking for the future across countries? The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has organized lists of futures groups by member country.  Whether you're looking for Socioforesight (Belgium) or  the Korea Development Institute (in Korean and English) you can expand your futures view!

Other organizations thinking about the future?  World Futures Studies Federation -- an organization of some 300 individuals and 20 institutions around the world whose mission is to promote futures education and research. The WFSF is a global network of practicing futurists -- researchers, teachers, scholars, policy analysts, activists and others from over 60 countries -- established in 1967.
